& MODALITIES

Every client is different, so we take time to understand your situation and use the methods that best support your growth.

  • Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working. To be diagnosed with depression, the symptoms must be present for at least two weeks.

Some forms of depression are slightly different, or they may develop under unique circumstances.

  • Occasional anxiety is an expected part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. The symptoms can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships.

There are several types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and various phobia-related disorders.

  • A traumatic event is a shocking, scary, or dangerous experience that affects someone emotionally. These situations may be natural, like a tornado or earthquake. They can also be caused by other people, like a car accident, crime, or terror attack. In some cases, the stressful thoughts and feelings after a trauma continue for a long time and interfere with everyday life. For people who continue to feel the effects of the trauma, it is important to seek professional help. Those who already had mental health problems or who have had traumatic experiences in the past, who are faced with ongoing stress, or who lack support from friends and family may be more likely to develop stronger symptoms and need additional help.

  • PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event.

It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Fear triggers many split-second changes in the body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. This “fight-or-flight” response is a typical reaction meant to protect a person from harm. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD.

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development. Adding psychotherapy to treat ADHD can help patients and their families to better cope with everyday problems.

Brainspotting (BSP) was developed by Dr. David Grand and attends to the body and central nervous system to deeply access and reprocess unresolved trauma or concerns.  The position of the eye is seen as a direct pathway to information housed in the body.  The power of brainspotting comes from the combination of: (1) the meaningful impact of a safe and present therapist to the process, and; (2) the intuitive positioning of the eye while deeply attending to unresolved material.

I am not an expert on any sport; however, I do not have to be, because I am not the performer. My expertise lies in helping people change, and as long as the person can identify A) What it is they don’t want to be doing (block), and B) What it is they want to do (desired outcome), I can work with the athlete on getting from point A to point B. The beauty of Brainspotting is in its simplicity, and in its ability to tap into the already laid foundation of the genius of the human brain/body nervous system.
